Bennett Circle was the go-to spot for neighborhood children on weekends. However, no one was more attached than six-year-old Jesus De La Cruz. As the youngest of several siblings, he often hopped on his bike with family and friends to the playtime hotspot. It created a bond between the young community. But, unfortunately, bonds would be ripped apart when Jesus, one of its strongest fasteners, vanished without a trace one fateful evening.
Jesus was excited on September 28, 1996. Although it began as a regular day, Jesus’ mother, Magdalena, had permitted him to play on his bicycle with his neighborhood friends, as she always did. It was late afternoon, and daylight still held fun adventures for Jesus and his neighborhood friend, Bernard. However, Jesus’ mood noticeably dampened by early evening. His pink bike had suffered a flat tire, hampering his favorite activity of riding it in circles.
